A Fresh Start and New Dreams

2012 is upon us and I have taken the liberty to borrow a quote from a triathlete friend of mine....thanks Sue.
"A Fresh Start and New Dreams".
At first I thought, why a "fresh start".
I normally equate a fresh start with a drastic change. Like moving cross country as I did last year or viewing the past year as a failure.

But when I thought about it I began to look at a fresh start as a chance to draw upon all I learned in 2011 and move forward with what some may call resolutions, but I prefer to think of as goals and learnings.

What did I learn? What are my 2012 goals?

#1) Any training plan will work.
Using all training plans at the same time equals a really crappy plan.
For 2012 I have written a very workable plan that I WILL stick to beginning with a base of "slow down to get faster and go longer"

#2) I need to lose 25 lbs.
Okay, not really news, but I realize It's not about losing it all at once.
In 2012 the goal is to lose 1 pound/week until 6/24.
(My next "eating" holiday)

#3) I don't need a "better" bike, I need to become a better cyclist.
Really still trying to convince myself of this. I happen to think a new bike is some sort of magic elixir.
2012 will find me doing more legwork and hills to improve my bike performance/speed.

#4)  I am a swag junkie!
I love the swag, I will enter any event, of any length for the proper swag. Even if it isn't in the best interests of my training.
I have officially dropped any events, and will not enter any events, which do not further my goals for 2012.

New Dreams

I save these for myself right now but leave you with a quote from Walt Disney...

All our dreams can come true,
if we have the courage to pursue them.
