Iron Girl Las Vegas is this Sunday.
As always I spend the week making race plans and developing an approach to the event.
Last Year, I came out of the swim 3rd in my age group, dropped to 16th on the bike and stayed there for the duration of the event.
This Year's plan is entitled
"What's the Worst that Could Happen"
Swim:
Last Year-I lined up way back for the swim start. There were probably 400 women in the water when I finally entered.
This Year-I'll line up early. Get into the water ahead of the pack.
Swim ALL OUT-20 minutes max.
"What's the Worst that Could Happen"
T-1:
A loooong uphill.
Last Year-I walked
This Year-I run
"What's the Worst that Could Happen"
Bike:
Last Year-Big wind & I rode conservatively because I was worried about the run.
This Year-KICK IT!
Don't think about the run (or wind).
The only thing that matters is the bike.
I repeat, for emphasis-KICK IT!
"What's the Worst that Could Happen"
T-2
Like T1, last year I walked out of it, until I was ready to run.
Whatever that means, I just know that's what I told myself.
This Year-I run
"What's the Worst that Could Happen"
Run:
Last Year-Run/Walk/Run/Walk
This Year-"Run Like You're Winning"
"What's the Worst that Could Happen"
This will be the shortest distance I've raced in a while.
I'm going to go all out and give it my all.
"What's the Worst that Could Happen"
"What's the Worst that Could Happen"
That's the wrong race plan title.
This race plan should be titled..
"What's the BEST that Could Happen"
